Enteroclysis

What is an enteroclysis scan?

An enteroclysis scan is a special type of X-ray done at Piedmont Healthcare to look at the small bowel (intestines). The radiology technician inserts a small tube down the nose to inject the contrast material, which helps visualize the structures. The test is usually completed within one hour.

Test Preparation

A full bowel "prep" to clear the abdomen of any waste material is necessary before this test.

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your test. Your physician will inform you which of your home medications you should take before the test. If you have diabetes, please consult your physician about taking insulin or other medications to control your blood sugar.

Special Considerations

Drink plenty of fluids for 24-48 hours after the tests.
